Jogjakarta - Day 1

Welcome to Jogjakarta everyone! Jogjakarta is also know as Yogyakarta. It is a city in Java known as the cultural city of Indonesia. Jogjakarta or in short Jogja is known for its art and culture such as batik, dance, drama, music, poetry and puppet shows. Jogja is very different from other Indonesian cities, it actually still has it's own King. The current King is the 10th king of Jogja, he lives in a palace called the Klaten.

We decided to take it easy on day 1 in Jogja. We explored the Malioboro, a busy shopping district of Jogja. There are so many things on sale here from batik, clothes, toys and handbags.

There are so many becak here. A becak is a carriage which carries people around the Jogja town. It is either pedalled by a man on a bicycle or a man on a motor cycle.

There are also horse drawn carriages.

I am definitely going to ride on one of these special carriages.

After exploring the town, we decided to head back to the hotel to relax by the pool. Ah!!!, This is so much better. Nice and cooling.

We were so tired after swimming and exploring the town that we decided to stay in and have fried chicken for dinner and watch TV. What a treat.
